Pock-marked Grandma Chen's Bean Curd
This famous place serves mapo Tofu. Soft bean curd is served up with a fiery meat sauce (laced with garlic, minced beef, salted soybean, chili oil and little peppercorns).
Long Chao Shou Special Restaurant
The beauty of this little restaurant is that it has sampler courses that allow you to dip into the whole gamut of the Chengdu snack experience. The 5 yuan course gives you a range of sweet and savory items, while the 10 yuan and 15 yuan courses are basically the same deal on a grander and more filling scale.
Yaohua Restaurant
Yaohua Restaurant is another main-course restaurant in the center of city. It is renowned for its western food and some of the dishes are not bad at all.
Grandma Chen's Bean Curd
Soft bean curd is served up with a fiery meat sauce (laced with garlic, minced beef, salted soybean, chili oil and little peppercorns).
Shamrock Pub and Restaurant
The Shamrock is a sort of international pub, a sort of mix of Irish, Australian and British. The pizzas are great, there is a decent range of salads (we had the Greek Salad - very good indeed), burgers, pasta, and Asian food - the guy next to us had some spicy prawns which he said were excellent, too. OK- it is not exactly authentic Chengdu food, but it is a good place to chill out and the food is good - very nice to have a break for western travellers looking for something from home.  In the evenings there was a good mix of local (Chinese) customers as well as ex-pats.
